NORTH WEST LONDON PATIENTS' PARLIAMENT
Patient and Public Involvement in Strategic Decision-Making in North West London
About the North West London Patients' Parliament
- In 2005, Health Link was commissioned by the then North West London Strategic Health Authority to establish the Patients' Parliament for North West London.
- We recruited 26 lay volunteer Parliament Members from across North West London: Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster.
- The Health and Social Care Act 2001 S. 11 requires Strategic Health Authorities to consult and involve patients in their service planning and decision-making. The Patients' Parliament was set for this purpose.
- The Patients' Parliament has been cited by the Department of Health Patient and Public Involvement team as good practice for Strategic Health Authorities, and by Volunteering England as good practice in supporting volunteers.
