Work on Health and Homelessness

Working in partnership with Groundswell, the homelessness charity, Health Link has developed a five phase programme of work on health and homelessness:

a) Disseminating our evaluated model for involving homeless volunteers as special advisors to Patients Forums on their statutory monitoring visits to hospital A & E.

b) Developing referral pathways for homeless people attending A &E, to refer them to support for homelessness, drug and alcohol services.

c) Developing a single assessment form for use across different local authorities, so users do not have to give their details repeatedly to different authorities

d) Training provision to hospital staff on avoiding stigma in the care of homeless people.

e) Consultation to find out the range of health services available to homeless hostels
